That may as well be the entire fishing report. We hit up Roosevelt Inlet today and the surrounding area. Admin 1 was using a new skirted jig he is product testing. He nailed an easy 22 inch flounder. The fish held onto the skirt and setting the hook never happened, but he managed to land the fish. I was elsewhere with a camera and didn’t have time to get the shot. The release was controlled by the fish on the edge of the bank. Not an easy place to land a flounder. They can spit a hook or lure very fast once on land. I saw the catch, the fish, and the release. We are counting it as a catch and release flounder for the day. I tried the end of the rock wall at Roosevelt and had a few hits. There are definitely fish moving around there.
I keep hearing a rumor of trout in the Delaware Bay, caught from the beaches. I have heard this from many people even a few that are not here. So at some point I will try to confirm or deny. I know where I have to go, and do not want to send you kids on a wild goose chase. Please be patient and we will try to find out what is what. I have heard tiny in size to a few keepers, personally all of them should be thrown back to increase the spawning populations. The striped bass, I am sure are having a field day on the trout, they were last year.
Welcome back Admin 1 and now we are ready to gear up for some serious fun and work in the sun this summer. Come out Saturday and meet Admin 1, Kristen, Chris Turak, Chris Guest (possibly) and Myself. I will be in Dewey Beach for the Treasurefest II and Admin1 will be at Old Inlet for the 50th anniversary celebration. Chris turak will be in Dewey with me, I have no idea where anyone else will be located.
Fish On!!
