The 39th Annual Coast Day is Canceled

Coast Day 2015

For the first time in 39 years Coast Days has been canceled.  From the UD website … “10:38 a.m., Oct. 1, 2015–While the University of Delaware’s Coast Day is typically a rain or shine event, organizers have announced that this year’s Coast Day scheduled Sunday, Oct. 4, has been canceled due to the possibility of significant coastal flooding, high winds and rain expected this weekend.  Public safety is UD’s main concern. ”   It seems that just about every even has been canceled this weekend due to storm activity and that is a good move.  The fact we are seeing minor tidal flooding right now seems like no big deal, or the status quo to many of us, but with the onslaught of more and more rain, runoff water can not drain in many low areas.  We already have a great deal of water building up in many areas.  Also it is not wise to encourage people to come out in this weather at the risk of their own safety.
